Preparation before the grass
The existing surface, levels, drainage and access affect the work needed. A typical lawn replacement involves removing the old grass, membrane, MOT stone and a grit sand finishing layer before fitting the turf.
Project-specific materials
Our Chester putting green used 75mm of MOT stone and 25mm of grit sand. Newton Heath involved a hand dig, 9 tonnes of MOT stone and 3 tonnes of grit sand for a 90 m² installation. These are real project examples, not a universal specification.
Finishing and fixing
On suitable ground installations, the perimeter is secured using 6-inch galvanised nails. Joints are secured with joining tape and artificial grass glue.
